My Favorite Packing Tips and Tricks

Hey, guys! So I know this is going up kind of late into Summer, but I’m hoping there are some people out there who will still be able to use this. I decided to make this post because I am leaving for a week long beach vacation on Saturday and have been doing some research on packing tips and tricks. I always struggle to fit all of my things into one suitcase so I needed some help. After reading numerous articles and watching multiple YouTube videos, I decided to make a compilation of some of my favorite packing tips and tricks, that I will be using personally within the next couple of days. Without further ado, here they are!

    • Roll your clothes. I bet you knew this one was coming, huh? This is honestly so helpful, but it’s pretty classic. I decided to put this one first to get it out of the way. If you struggle with running out of space in your luggage, try this hack and I bet it will help you out big time.
    • Keep shoes in plastic bag or shower cap. This is pretty self-explanatory, but doing this just keeps your shoes from dirtying up other things, like clothes, in your luggage.
    • Store your socks inside of your shoes. This is just a simple, space-saving tip.
    • Put a layer of saran wrap over the mouth of bottles before putting on the lid. When you’re carrying around things like shampoo, conditioner, or face wash, it’s easy for big messes to occur during travel. Often times the lid can come unscrewed or the cap will pop open and your product will leak all over other things in your luggage. Putting a layer of saran wrap keeps the product from being able to escape the package. Other precautions you can take are putting tape over the cap of your products and keeping these things in a separate plastic bag. That way if leaks happen to occur, at least the product will not spill all over your clothes, shoes, etc.
    • Place large binder clips over your razors. If you don’t put something over the blades, you’re risking hurting yourself and possibly getting cuts on your clothes and other luggage items. Do yourself a favor and cover those blades!
    • Store chargers inside of a sunglasses case. This keeps your chargers safe from snagging and pulling during travel. It does not, however, always keep from tangling, unfortunately.
    • Wrap your chargers up with hair bands. We all know we will be on the hunt for a hair band at some point during the trip. Opt for using hair bands to wrap up your chargers, instead of a rubber band or twist tie. It’s a win-win.

  • Put any necklaces through a straw. Simply file your necklace through a straw and it will keep it from getting all twisted and tangled during travel.
  • Put your earrings on a button. Use the holes on an extra button to put your earrings on. This way you won’t have to worry about losing your earrings.
  • Put cotton balls/pads inside of makeup compacts to keep them from breaking. There’s hardly anything worse than arriving at your destination and realizing that your makeup was shattered along the way. Luckily, using cotton pads or cotton balls will soften any blow to the makeup and will usually keep it from breaking.
  • Store bobby pins in a Tic-Tac case. This is another oldie, but a goodie. Bobby pins fit perfectly into an empty Tic-Tac container. Why not take advantage of this? Hopefully, by doing this, you won’t lose so many of them.
  • Store perfume in thick socks. You could use this hack with any glass container, not just perfume. You don’t want your perfume bottle shattering and spilling all over your clothes, so definitely try out this hack!
  • Store small valuables in empty chapstick containers. I haven’t tried this one, but I’ve seen a lot of people talk about it and it looks so neat! I’ll definitely have to give it a shot soon.
  • Place a dryer sheet in your suitcase. This will keep your clothes and everything inside your suticase smelling nice and fresh while you are traveling to your destination.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading this packing tips and tricks post and found it useful! Let me know where your dream travel destination is. I have a ton of places I want to visit, but Paris and Bora Bora are at the top of my list. (Basic, I know lol.) If you have any more awesome travel or packing hacks, be sure to let everyone know in the comments. I’d love to hear them and give them a try! Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you’ll come back again soon! Bye, guys!

  1. Many of the tips here are brilliant! I was surprised haha, interesting. Saving these ones so I can use these tips when I pack next time. I like the earrings on the button. Even though I don’t wear any, those are smart!

    1. I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I thought the button hack was neat too. Thanks for stopping by Claire! 😊
